Maserati 151 Coupe returns to Laguna Seca

View the 151 Monterey Gallery

After a 52 year absence, the sole remaining Maserati 151 Le Mans coupe returned to Laguna Seca (aka Mazda Raceway) during the 2014 Rolex Motorsports Reunion. Derek Hill has been dazzling vintage racing crowds in the car during the last three Goodwood Circuit Revivals.

The fearsome coupe’s last visit to Laguna Seca occurred in December 1962 during Bev Spencer’s ownership. MotorBinder contains a number of superb never-before-seen images of this 151.

We’re so pleased to have made contact with the late Dave MacDonald’s son, Rich. Dave MacDonald’s success while racing various Corvettes on the West Coast in the early ’60s caught the eye of Carroll Shelby when his Cobra project was in its infancy. Once a part of the Cobra team MacDonald was an instant winner, delighting crowds with his flamboyant driving style. We’ve sent books off for Rich MacDonald and Dave’s widow, Sherry. The great Dave MacDonald is prominently featured in the book.
